Samsung Galaxy S8 Design, Screen, and other hardware specs review

samsung galaxy s8 specifications

Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with an exceptional design and a perfect hardware. The screen seems to feel right as it gently falls off on the edges giving a visual effect highlighted by near the near absence of bezels. The Samsung Galaxy S8 has bezels at the top and bottom.  Everything can’t be perfect in a phone so is the case with Samsung Galaxy S8.  It has a big display and tiny bezel which means there’s no room for the fingerprint-sensing Home button to sit on the front. The button comes on the back, next to the camera. We think the button is tiny and is positioned rather awkwardly to make it comfortable.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is neatly styled with an 8.0mm slim body and it is longer and narrower than most of the phone. It beats the LG g6 on this front.  Having a sleek design makes phone handling easy and comfortable.Though when in your hands one needs to careful as the phone comes with palm activating edges.

The body comes in a neat glass finish which is the uptrend in the market similar to the Jet Black iPhone and HTC U Ultra. This finish though comes with the fingerprint smudges issue.  Apart from this Samsung Galaxy S8 will also be available in bright silver and gray with a business tinge.

The phone comes with a volume rocker and standby switch is joined by a new button on the side which is a dedicated Bixby button – which shows Samsung is serious about its new virtual assistant.

As we already spoke about the phone being slim it also is light weighing 155gm but is sturdy and precisely built. This time around Samsung has chosen to keep it simple and not choose to go overboard trying to remodel its features. This time the Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with a microSD slot along with the nano  SIM. The headphone jack is retained, unlike Apple which has decided to remove physical headphone which indicated the demise of the 3.5mm jack.  The Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with a QI Wireless charger and it is IP68 water resistant and dust resistant and can survive underwater for 30 minutes up to 1.5 meters.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with a 5.8-inch screen with an 18.5:9 ratio making it taller and is bigger than Galaxy S7. Samsung is known to launch smartphones with AMOLED panels and Samsung Galaxy S6 is no different it come with quad-HD+ 2960 x 1440 resolution. It is  ‘Mobile HDR Premium’ certified’ which is the most important evolution in TV tech in recent years as it offers better contrast and a brighter picture. It allows users to stream HDR (high dynamic range) shows from Amazon Prime and Netflix when those apps are updated.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 come with  DCI-P3 cinema-grade color gamut for a much wider spectrum of colors, and in certain situations, the brightness can break the 1000-nit barrier similar to the iPhone7. This feature makes the colors gloriously vivid while managing to avoid oversaturating brighter shades while still displaying the deepest black. Comparatively, most of the smartphones including the LG G6 come with an around 650 units. This feature makes the Samsung Galaxy S8 screen bright even with 25% brightness and it’s perfectly visible indoors.

Battery and other specs of Samsung galaxy s8

battery and other specs of samsung galaxy s8

The Phone comes with a relatively small 3000mAh battery and when unboxed the phone is set to display 1080p rather than quad-HD. It is better to go to setting n fix the appropriate display settings rather than ignore as at times it can leave some apps with oddly big fonts and a softer look on texts and icons. So to get optimum value for your money you would surely want your phone to look its best.

It comes with a “Video Enhancer” mode which boosts the contrast and brightness in certain apps like the Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube and so on. The so-called HDR effect already mentioned earlier. This features certainly makes me grab my Samsung Galaxy S8 whenever I want to watch something on the go. This feature may drain your battery but seriously it makes the fantastic display even better.

  • The Phone comes with killer display
  • It is a phone with a futuristic feel to it.
  • It has a stunning camera
  • It is innovative on many fronts.

  • Finger sensor is positioned awkwardly
  • Bixby AI is a bit loud
